A 60-minute author talk for children ages 9 and up.
The Mandil family, a Jewish family of photographers in former Yugoslavia, lived in peace, until one visit to their grandmother in Belgrade changed their lives forever. Told through the eyes of five-year-old Gavra, this true story is the basis of the award winning book The Photographer's Son by Maya C. Klinger. The talk shares this story in a clear, sensitive, and age-appropriate way, offering young listeners an accessible introduction to the Holocaust.
